September is National Preparedness Month, and the Kidney Community Emergency Response Coalition (KCER) has prepared a series of one-page flyers or posters in English and Spanish on Emergency Preparedness, covering wildfires, floods, power outages, and hurricanes. While hurricanes usually “just” appear to be severe storms in the Northwestern US, they do occur here. Find these posters at https://www.nwrn.org/patients-a-family/emerpt.html .
You can also find a great deal of additional information, including…
- A vital-information wallet card and checklist (or “handout”)
- A page on flu preparedness
- A flyer/poster on emergency preparedness resources for kids
- A 3-day emergency diet
on the KCER website at http://kcercoalition.com/resources/september-preparedness-2/ (English) and http://kcercoalition.com/resources/en-espanol/ (Spanish).
KCER has also created a tri-fold brochure called Kidney Care in Emergencies: What You Need to Know about Emergency Preparedness for Individuals on Dialysis or with a Kidney Transplant. The brochure also provides minimum requirements for dialysis providers and emergency management agencies.
