Ban: Powdered Gloves

The FDA has banned all powdered patient examination and surgeon’s gloves, and absorbable powder for lubricating gloves, effective January 18, 2017, because of the possibility of inflammation and allergic and other adverse reactions to the powder.  The FDA has used a ban because their review shows that the possible adverse consequences exceed the benefits, and because they could find no way to mitigate the threats to health.  For details see https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2016/12/19/2016-30382/banned-devices-powdered-surgeons-gloves-powdered-patient-examination-gloves-and-absorbable-powder .
