NW18 Extended CW Deadlines for Orange County

The November CROWNWeb Newsletter is now available, at http://mycrownweb.org/news/newsletters/ .  The feature article gives Orange County facilities an extra two months to complete their CROWNWeb data entry, since Orange County is a FEMA-designated disaster area.  New deadlines are:

  • For Clinical Month August 2017 – December 31, 2017
  • For Clinical Month September 2017 – January 31, 2018
  • For Clinical Month October 2017 – February 28, 2018
  • For Clinical Month November 2017 – March 31, 2018
  • For Clinical Month December 2017 – April 30, 2018

CMS asks, however, that facilities do their best to file their Forms 2728 as early as possible in order to avoid delays in coverage for beneficiaries.

The Newsletter also includes an article for facilities affected by wildfires or other emergencies, whether or not they are located in a FEMA-designated disaster area (and any facility needing an additional exception), on how to file an Extraordinary Circumstance Exception (ECE) request, and how their PY2019 QIP Final Performance Score will be calculated as a result.

An article on using the Facility Dashboard rounds out this issue of the CROWNWeb Newsletter.  The issue also announces a CROWNWeb Town Hall on November 30, 2017.

QIP Account Update

Prepare for ESRD QIP PY 2017 Reporting Documents by Updating your Account

More than 200 outpatient dialysis facilities have not designated a Facility Point of Contact (FPOC) in the ESRD QIP system.  Facilities should maintain their accounts and make sure that FPOCs have access to reporting documents.  CMS is preparing ESRD QIP end-of-year documents for release in December, including the Payment Year 2017 Final Performance Score Reports and the Performance Score Certificate, which facilities are required to post for public review.  For help with the ESRD QIP system, including reviving a deactivated account, contact the QualityNet Help Desk at qnetsupport@hcqis.org or 866-288-8912.

8/2 Draft PSR Review Call

CMS will hold a conference call on August 2, 2016 on ESRD QIP: Reviewing Your Facility’s PY2017 Performance Data.  The call will cover accessing your PSR, implications for your reimbursement rates, how to submit a formal inquiry about your PSR (before September 16, 2016), and PSR posting requirements.  Registration is required, and will be at https://blh.ier.intercall.com/ once they add the call to the list.

Facility Report Cards

We’ve added the February 2016 Monthly Patient Flyer/Poster to the Network 16 website.  It summarizes the Dialysis Facility Performance Score Report, or “Report Card” that all facilities are required to post prominently every year.  The Report summarizes your facility’s performance on mineral metabolism, dialysis adequacy, vascular access, infection, hospital readmission, EPO, and patient surveys.  Find the Flyer, along with our historical Posters, at https://www.nwrn.org/patients-a-family/ptedres/mon.html .  If you have any feedback for us, or ideas for future Posters, email Network 16 Patient Services Director Lisa Hall at lhall@nw16.esrd.net .

Facility Report Cards

We’ve put Network 16’s monthly patient flyer/poster for February on the Network website, at https://www.nwrn.org/patients-a-family/ptedres/mon.html .  It’s about “Did you know that each dialysis clinic gets a report card?” and tallies the metrics that Medicare uses to evaluate facilities, and describes how to find your facility’s report card.  These metrics are intended to measure the health of the patients at your clinic, and it would be to your advantage to understand them and do whatever you can to improve your own metrics and those of your fellow patients.
